What does it mean to you to be "in a relationship"?

Break apart the word.. relationship...ship...you are in the ship with others...you depend on others to navigate.. to get somewhere...you have to help each other..can't get off.. you are committed to the journey.. relation.. an existing connection... relate .. to communicate in a way that both parties feel understood

Stay in the church. Stay in the ship. We may hit some rough waters but if we watch each other's back, we will be safe and make it to the other shore.

Remember, Jesus is there with us and if He needs to, He will calm the storm.

It is all in the eye of the beholder!

A seeing eye dog "sees" for its' handler. Steering around obstacles and helping the owner avoid dangerous areas. The dog perceives because the owner cannot.

Wikipedia states that Perception is the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the environment.

Those of us that wear glasses can identify with this illustration. You sit in the exam chair and the optometrist puts this machine in front of your face and you look through the holes as s/he flips the lenses. It changes your view, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. It is their job to try and help you see the world as sharply and clearly as possible.

Our senses teach us about our world. What we see, hear, feel, taste and touch. We build our beliefs based on the information flowing around us since the time we were formed in our mother's womb. Were you comfortable, secure, floating in your first world or were you bombarded with drugs, alcohol and adrenaline? Did your mother sing to you? Massage you? or did you experience shaking? physical pain? Many of us may not know the answer to this but that was the beginning of our first perception of the this thing called life.

We begin this life struggling to walk, feed ourselves and to learn to communicate with those around us. I believe that God knows us from the womb and I believe that environment can hinder or move us toward greatness. It is a great responsibility being a parent. We owe it to our children to be balanced Christians, loving, leading and teaching them to come into their own.

The Gospel is simple and Thank God it is. People's perception of what God meant has been twisting this message for too long.

Try an experiment. Next time someone you know starts to talk to you, make your mind blank (like a chalkboard) and imagine their words are being written on that chalkboard. Now look at the words and take them at face value.

God told us to repent.
God told us to be baptized in Jesus' Name.
God told us we will receive the Holy Ghost.
God told us to love one another.
God told us to live holy.
God told us to worship Him only.

Let's clear our mind. Reduce the pollution of this world. Let's see things clearly.
We live in America and have our freedoms because of the sacrifices through bloodshed of our men and women in battle. I may not agree with war but history has shown that when good men do nothing, evil will be unleashed.

Read a story about a General upset by the American Indian custom of making their wives walk behind them and he complained to the Indian Chief. Warriors, the Indian Chief explained, were going before their women to clear the path and make a way for them.

People make so many judgement calls based on what they see but with no understanding. Let's all take a breath and slow down long enough to open our eyes to see what is really happening.

Try an experiment. Imagine looking at a situation through someone else's eyes. This requires some intelligence and some empathy. Reading is an excellent source of insight into other lives. Become a researcher. Lay aside your past experiences. Look at things anew. It is all in how you look at it!Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-19322307323068716062012-03-20T15:22:00.000-07:002012-03-20T15:22:46.106-07:00Is There A Child in The House?Recently watched a short clip of a young man. He was goofing off, dancing and laughing. It was uplifting until one realized that he had died tragically a day after that video in a skiing accident. Watching him made me want to reach into the screen and grab his essence and retrieve the laughter and the boy that once was.

The body is only a house. The soul really is a separate entity. I could see it in the video. The childlike nature of this young man evidenced in his love of life jumping around telling the body to move to express his joy.

Jesus knocks on the door of the house. Is there anyone there? A child, perhaps,
that joyfully runs to see who is there. A child looks up with a smile and hope, that this stranger will fill a need in his/her life. Children are like that, selfish by nature but in a good way. Feed me, hold me, make me laugh, play with me, keep me warm, keep me safe. Intellect, education, life's experiences, background are all worthless when entering the Kingdom of God. We need to run to the door of heart and throw it open to the King of King and let Jesus enter in.Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-68167978160360904572012-03-20T14:39:00.000-07:002012-03-20T14:39:53.977-07:00Hearing from GodEverybody wants to hear something from God! Look at the popularity of preachers that call out people and start reading their "mail". It is pretty simple.
1. Your circumstances may indicate God is trying to get your attention. Jonah finally quit complaining and started listening when he found himself in a dark, lonely and smelly place (whale).
2. Counsel - Listen to those in authority - Pastor, parents, trusted friends.
3. Peace Philipians 4:7 (one of my fav scriptures).. it is a feeling that everything is right in the world no matter what is happening. When my husband was away in Desert Storm (war in Kuwait) God put me in a God Bubble. Nothing bad could penetrate and I was on a Spiritual High! It was amazing.
4. Dreams and visions. Mathew 1:20. It took a dream to convince Joseph to marry Mary!
5. Thoughts are powerful and Amos 4:13 describes God speaking to man. 2Co 10:5 tells us what to do to protect our mind against thoughts of the enemy.
6. Natural Manifestations point to our Creator and as a Christian, one should study the science of creationism to understand the miracle that is all around us.
7. Supernatural manifestations are mentioned in the Bible (burning bush for Moses, Voices from Heaven, Angels appearing) and so we should see and expect them in our lives (receiving the Holy Ghost)
8. Bible Hebrews 4:12 describes the power behind the Word of God. Any true Christian can tell a story where he/she has opened their Bible and a scripture has spoken to their heart or their situation.
9. Whisper 1Kings 19:12 describes God speaking to Elijah in a still, small voice.
Sometimes one will be given a thought or hear a thought spoken as if they are thinking it but it is really from God. When acted upon, confirmation in the form of the result lets you know that it was truly from God. "Speak to that person" "Stop" "Wait" "Don't speak that" "Ask her to go to altar and pray" "Tell them your testimony" These are some examples that come to my mind when I have heard from God.

Finally, my wonderful readers, read Jeremiah 7:13 which is a warning to truly hear what the Lord is saying and respond to Him.Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-17833329752056796052010-09-27T13:15:00.000-07:002010-09-27T13:35:24.732-07:00Highlights from Rev.McNealy's MessageOn target message 'do you want to be happy?" Sunday evening by Rev. McNealy. Just want to drop some quotes from his message that I thought were significant:
1. You will never change anything in your life that you tolerate. (if I can just change _____ then I will be happy.)
2. Center your life around good things. Life is like a sponge. It only soaks up what surrounds it. Life pressures will come. Pressures upon the sponge will squeeze out what has been put in.
3. Better to resolve marriage difficulties than to dissolve marriage vows.
4. Oops! I married the wrong one (person) instead of trying to be The One (for the other person).

This message left me with an image. Two bowls of water. One dirty and the other clean. Two sponges. Two lives. One lives clean and the other lives in sin. Life happens to both sponges, sickness, loss of jobs, no friends, treated unfairly, car breaks down....life looks bleak...both sponges are wrung dry. The comfort and peace the clean sponge felt kept him standing until he could dip back into that clean water and restore his spirit. The dirty sponge had no relief and all he could do was complain. The situaltion went from bad to horrible as he was plunged back into the dirty water.

I put my sponges through the dishwasher to sterilize and clean them. The power of repentance and the tears of joy are wonderful cleansers! Put your sponges in a Holy Ghost dishwasher and feel clean again.Sis. Everything else we may fill our lives with is emptiness. The only truth that is worth holding onto is the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism in His Name (Jesus) and receiving the Holy Ghost and living a Holy life pleasing to Jesus.

My Pledge today is I will not be moved from the side of my Savior. My pledge is my whole heart belongs to the Lord. My pledge is I will remain faithful the rest of my life. My desire is to see the Lord and to see my fruit. I trust the Lord and I believe He will be faithful for my children's sake. My children have been gifts from God and I have returned them to Him many times, over and over again.Sis. He was 5lb and 10oz and 19inches long. Being 4 weeks early has taken a toll on his new life outside the womb. We are trusting our wonderful God to care for him as he struggles to breathe and our prayers are constantly bombarding Heaven for this new family.

Everyone falls in love the minute they see Tyler. I remember falling in love with Jesus the minute I truly saw Him. The presence that filled me with a life-giving force is an unforgettable experience and one I constantly thank Jesus for. This is such a fragile new life.

I have started a garden and I am watching new growth everyday. The plants are tender and need me to refresh them with life-giving water as the heat of the day evaporates the moisture. Night-time brings out the life-sucking bugs and slugs that would like to feast on this new life. Vigilance pays off as I look for them with a flashlight and destroy with a satisfying crunch under my shoe.

Remember Christians, this new life is fragile and should be handled with care! It will be worth every effort when we feast at the Lord's table in Heaven.Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-4234075166289746562010-03-08T21:36:00.000-08:002010-03-08T21:55:34.713-08:00What is that in your mouth?Bro. Brian Koch preached a moving message about the Lord tries the reins of the heart. He guides us, pulls back on the reins and sometimes just lets us have the lead.

I love horseback riding and it has been many years since I was on my horse. I have ridden retired race horses, old geldings, spirited quarter horses, and my favorite... a Tennessee walker (like being in a rocking chair!)

Tack is what you use to ride a horse. It is the equipment (saddle, pad, halter, etc.) One particularly important piece is the bridle and reins. You slip the mouthpiece or bit into the horse's mouth and up over the ears with the bridle and the reins are attached. You buckle it around the neck. This is how you really communicate with the horse. Depending on what style of riding will determine how you use the reins in turning. The way you use the reins will directly communicate with the horse because they run down into his most sensitive area of his body...the mouth...in which lies the bit. Now if you have a gentle horse, you use a small metal bit that won't hurt when you pull to stop but if you have a racehorse, well, you better wear gloves and be strong if you want to stop! They need a strong bit in their mouth.

Bits can look like torture tools...rings, chains, leather. I wonder what kind of bit does the Lord have in your mouth?Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-35144191426596911152010-02-12T20:16:00.000-08:002010-02-12T20:29:34.030-08:00What is the "World"?Look at your arm, hand, fingers. Look in the mirror. What do you see? Flesh. We live in this vessel that is made up from the dust of the earth. We are part of this world. Too often we are living in this world and not living in the Spirit. This flesh complains loudly. "I am too tired!" "I have a headache!" "Make me feel good!" "Entertain me!"

The flesh demands and demands and demands. Saint of God, what do you hear? What do you listen to? Does your flesh tie you down to the tracks of this world? That demon train is barreling down. The enemy won't stop for anybody.

The Spirit is calling, calling, calling. Soft and quiet comes the urgings from the Holy Ghost. "Come to me, child." "Pick up my word, precious." "Lay your worries down at my cross."

The world is all around us. Keep your eyes open. Ask for discernment. LIVE IN THE SPIRT NOT IN THE WORLD!Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-22874089436273042062010-02-12T20:08:00.000-08:002010-02-12T20:15:25.508-08:00Talent Night..Ladies OnlySomething special when daughters of Zion gather together. We are having a great time using our imagination creating things using flowers, buttons, cuttlebugs, glue, wire, scissors...(don't get us mad!) even remaking jeans into skirts.

There is unity and power in sisterhood. We all understand each other. We all help each other. We are in this for the long haul. You can count on us! We love Jesus!
Thank you Jessy, Nikki, Sarah, Terra, Serenity, Alexa and me (Mama Koch).Sis. Can't believe I haven't written anything but so much has been happening and I am thrilled to be serving the Lord. Sadness and loss over the last month. Sis Becky Jones lost a nephew, Rev. and Mrs. White lost a precious daughter, Jacqueline, and Sis Brown passed away. Through all these tribulations God is faithful. Neverchanging, He stands by our side. That is what I am most thankful for in 2010. That is His true and faithful promise. He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Don't be afraid to lose this life. Yes, Jesus has blessed me and I do enjoy my children, brothers and sisters, church life and my wonderful husband but I must be ready to give it all up to see the Lord. Thank God, He understands our fraility.

Installation service for Rev. Shane and Sis Jessica Koch was annointed and timely. The Lord spoke to us in prayer service the next day and stating that He had specifically gathered those in The Rock of Salinas and we were going to be a spiritually force in the city of Salinas. Thank you Sis Jeannie for being faithful and sensitive. It is a difficult thing to be used in the gifts but with Pastor Koch at the helm, I believe we shall see more of God's spirit moving in these last days to save souls.Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-12499307267115386632009-11-10T18:43:00.000-08:002009-11-10T18:47:55.309-08:00Quote from Rev. Ron MullingsRev. Mullings was the preacher for the Section 5 of Western District of UPC Prayer and Bible Conference. He is anointed and profound. One statement that struck home was "Being humble doesn't mean you think less of yourself but it does mean you spend less time thinking of yourself." Makes you stop and think about what you have been thinking about!!!Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-72403977714944526272009-09-22T23:42:00.000-07:002009-09-23T00:23:55.992-07:00So You Want to be a Lowrider, eh?Trucks are manufactured and built to drive, haul, tow and climb. They have specifications for the tires, brakes, shocks, struts (sounds like I know something about cars? lol) What I am trying to say is that cars are built so they will perform. When we tamper with that, it may look good but it will not be able to do what it was meant to do.

Jedediah saw a beautiful low-rider on his way to church. He described the paint job and the angle at which the body was set. The bumper almost kissing the asphalt. The dude with an attitude. Gotta have that! He began to think of the diminished value of the truck. Oh, it might hold value to the owner or others who cherish that kind of ride but for the ones who created the truck, it was ruined. It could no longer go off-road or into sand dunes. It would not be able to haul loads or move furniture. It would have a hard enough time going over speed bumps or up curbs. It was only for show. It really couldn't be used as a truck anymore. Too bad.

God creates us with specific designs and abilities. All too often, we take our vessels and pollute them, change them, cheapen them, altar them, abuse them all for our glory but not God's glory.

The Lord speaks of vessels unto honor and some to dishonor. If we follow God's design and allow Him to change us, we can become a vessel unto honor. We will be ready when Jesus looks for a vessel to use. He will see us waiting on His will.

I think I would rather be an old truck that has been able to climb the mountains of life and stand the heat of the valley of trials. One that has been maintained on the Word of the Lord and the oil of the Holy Ghost has been changed every 3000 miles. The tires of my life have worn well with living the life of a Christian. The interior smells of the joy and praise found on the lips of the driver.
That is the kind of vessel I want to be!Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237623826156317395.post-47725529909396115572009-09-08T20:41:00.000-07:002009-09-08T20:57:06.386-07:00Desperation is a Powerful Emotion!Rev. Shane Koch preached a powerful message on being desperate for God. We don't casually come into this life of a Christian. No! We are born again and enter into warfare. We need to be passionate about our faith. Passionate about the truth. That is what sets us free. I remember feeling so free from the world's belief system which is not much of a belief system. It is more "loosey goosey" and "anything goes" belief. I lacked security and once I met Jesus and He straightened me out, my footing became sure. I knew right from wrong. Everything was clear. Peace entered my life.

Pastor Brian Koch announced the installation of Bro. Shane Koch into the position of Pastor of the Rock. The church prayed for Bro. Shane and Sis. Jessica as they fulfill the call of God in their life.

Bro. Jedediah and Sis. Nicole will be starting outreach in Greenfield with Bible studies.

Please pray for these wonderful young men and women as they work to bring in the harvest. God is with them.Sis. We need to forgive those forgotten memories of hurt and trauma that have occurred over our lifetime. Fear and trembling need to be the cautionary emotions that lead us to peace and assurance in Jesus.Sis. Frank led testimonies with fire. It is the Holy Ghost burning in us and it should be evident in our lives. Pastor is at work but the church is being led by the Holy Ghost and able young men and women.
Rev. Shane is doing an awesome job along with his beautiful young wife, Jessica, with her singing talent. Bro. Jed leads in drums and adds his wonderful tenor voice.

Bro. Caleb is thankful for nothing cuz sometimes nothing is good!
Praise God! The Ramirez family is thankful for the simple things in living for God. Sis. Carmen carries a burden for her family but she hears from God His wonderful constant assurances.

Rev. Shane begins his message with the question, "Where did the sword come from?".
The will of God comes to your life so clear and plain and we respond "God, I want your will but I know that ain't it!" We need to quit fleecing God and start trusting God. You think Gideon was excited that his fleece worked? He went about figuring out a plan that did not match up with the plan of God. Thank God he listened to God, reduced the army, changed the tactics and won the victory for the Lord.

Peter thought he knew the will of God and wore a sword (remember he was a fisherman!) to join into the fight for the kingdom of God but when he struck out at the armed guard he was quickly rebuked for cutting off the ear of the guard as the Lord healed the man. Jesus won the battle and Peter picked up the sword of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost and spoke to the sinners about what they needed to do to make it into the true kingdom of Heaven.Sis. Forgiving one another allows our footing on the Rock to remain strong. "Vengence is mine, sayeth the Lord." from Romans 12:19...Remove wrath and evil speaking far from you...How often do we get hurt and angry when we should be loving and forgiving? Pastor Koch used to ask his children when they were misbehaving "Just who do you think you are?" I am sure that Jesus would like to ask us that same question. Let us put bad thoughts and things far away from us and let's just love one another and Jesus. I want to make it to Heaven, don't you?
Let's go!Sis. For by thy words thou shall be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

OUR WORDS ARE GOING TO MAKE US OR BREAK US!

CONTRAST WITH WHAT THE WORD SAYS ABOUT JESUS:
1Peter 2:22, "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth."

INSTRUCTION TO SAINTS:
James 3:10, "Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessings and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

SEEMS LIKE THEY HAD PROBLEMS WITH PEOPLE WHO HAD A FOUL MOUTH. DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO CAN'T STOP CUSSING EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE HOLY GHOST?

READ EPHESIANS 4:21-31
IF YOU HAVE BEEN IN CHURCH LONG ENOUGH TO HEAR PREACHING ABOUT HOW WE OUGHT TO LIVE AND CONDUCT OURSELVES THEN THE WAY YOU TALK SHOULD REFLECT THAT. IF YOU NEED HELP THEN RENEW YOUR MIND BY PRAYING THROUGH (GO TO AN ALTAR AND CRY AND SEEK GOD UNTIL YOU HAVE FOUND HIM). STOP LYING, STOP GIVING VENT TO YOUR ANGER, STOP TALKING ABOUT THE DEVIL. JUST LEAVE HIM ALONE. STOP STEALING. GET A JOB SO YOU CAN HELP YOUR FAMILY, CHURCH AND THE POOR. BACK TO MOUTH. IF IT AIN'T GOOD THEN SHUTUP.

FINALLY, DON'T MESS WITH THE SEAL. SEALS ARE IMPORTANT. TELLS YOU THAT THE CONTENTS HAVE NOT BEEN CONTAMINATED.

IF YOU LET EVIL HAVE IT’S WAY IN YOUR LIFE THEN YOU MAY DAMAGE THE SEAL THAT GOD HAS PUT ON YOU. It is fun to pontificate on the issues of the day but alas, that is all it is, really. All has been said. Read it for yourself. Try proverbs as a start. God Bless!Sis. Jedediah Koch illustrated the need for the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus in baptism in Jesus' name in full immersion in water. Jed went to the sink to wash off the grime of working in his garage (who knows what he is creating next?) and no water issued forth from the trusted pipes of his new home. Frustrated, he tried using towels to no avail. Once he solved the mystery (was it unpaid bills? No! Did the city shut off the water? No. Did the gardener do something he shouldn't have? Yes.) he was so thankful for the cleansing power of the water combined with soap that he realized it is the same with baptism. The sin stains cannot be washed away with anything else but the blood of Jesus. Going down in the water,we are buried with Him in baptism, and the name of Jesus called out over us is the power of soap, we come out whiter than snow. Thank God for the Blood!Sis. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN…BILL CLINTON..ARNOLD SWARTZNEGGER…GEORGE WASHINGTON……VERBAL BEAN..ABE LINCOLN…BRIAN KOCH…… ICHABOD… BENEDICT ARNOLD..SAMSON… DELIAH.. DAVID...

Images and feelings rise up when you read those names. The stories of their life and decisions that they made affect us. There is a reputation associated with each name. Reputation means the standing one acquires through life. It may be based on falsehood or rumors but it may be based on what you have done or accomplished. Some may say that they don't care what others think. Christians do need to care what others think because our lives are letters to lost souls.

Someone tells you, "I give you my word!". You will judge that statement not based on the literal words but on the life of that individual. Words are validated by actions. A good name takes a lifetime of living right. Benedict Arnold might not have lived a bad life but he is remembered for one very wrong action, that of a traitor.

Proverbs 22:1 "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold."

The key action in this scripture is choice. You choose everyday what is most important to you. What are you pursuing? What do you have in your mind when you choose? The kingdom of God or the kingdom of self?

If you doubt how important your reputation is, read Ecclesiastes 7:1 "A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of one's birth." I think we get it backwards. We race towards youth and as it passes us by, we spend billions on trying to regain it. The scripture tells us that it will be better to die than to live. We forget that eternity is real and this life is but a vapor. This good name will carry us through eternity.

Psalms 52:9 "I will praise thee forever, because thou hast done it; and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints." I am so thankful we know a name that has a ring of truth, power and salvation to it. I love the name of Jesus.

Next blog: How do you get this good name?

Sis. How do we make decisions? What is the biggest decision of our life? Do we follow Biblical principles or choose to let decisions be based on convenience.

After hearing this message, I thought about Samson and how frustrating to listen to his story of blind love with Delilah. She repeatedly tricked him and he chose to stay ignorant of her devices. He lost his strength and power because he trusted her. We can chose to be ignorant of the devil's devices and allow our flesh to dictate our course only to find our strength and power in God gone.

What a sad conclusion. He lost so much. Our life is so short. Let us be informed about the Word of God and understand how to make smart decisions in our life. You can be victorious and have joy.

Be informed, be smart, be a Christian!
Sis. Kathryn Kochhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07980427283285845851noreply@blogger.com3
